Spot Prawn season is one of our favourite times of year. But with it lasting only four to six weeks, you want to make sure to enjoy as much spot prawn goodness as humanely possible.

To celebrate the season of this flavour-packed seafood, you can head over to Vancouver’s Spot Prawn Festival, which is set to officially return on Sunday, May 25, at Fisherman’s Wharf in False Creek.

The yearly event, hosted by the Chef’s Table Society of British Columbia, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Here, you can buy fresh B.C. spot prawns directly from local fishers, watch cooking demos from some top B.C. chefs, and enjoy other family-friendly activities celebrating seafood and sustainability.

Chefs demonstrating cooking demos include Stacy Johnston (Poplar Grove Winery), Jonah Joffe (Bar Bravo), Welbert Choi (eatfish.ca), and Sean Murray (Pan Pacific Hotel)

And for those who want to make the most of the event, you can also buy tickets to sample some delectable spot prawn creations, including the returning fave spot prawn bisque for $10 per person and the spot prawn brunch experience for $79 per person.

Brunch will take place over two seatings and will have visitors indulge in a stand-up grazing event featuring six unique spot prawn dishes with local wine and beer pairings and a sweet treat.

What’s even better is these dishes are all created by local all-star chefs, including Adam Middleton (ARC Restaurant & Bar), Antonio Martin (Haven Kitchen + Bar), Bobby Milheron (Wentworth Hospitality: Tableau BistroHomer St. Café & BarMaxine’s), Felix Zhou (Personas Patio + Restaurant + Lounge), Hiran Perera (The Barley Merchant Taphouse), Ian Ulep (Bacaro), Johnny Jang (Lift Bar and Grill), Jon Lee (Good Thief), Lina Caschetto (Say Hey Cafe), Robert Lee (Glowbal), and Steve Kuan (Torafuku).

Six chefs will be at each brunch, but the exact chefs presenting at each brunch will not be known in advance.

Tickets for both the spot prawn bisque and brunch experience are now available online.
