Sorry Vancouver, no Starbucks Gingerbread Latte this year

Dec 19 2017, 8:41 pm

The red cups are already in full effect at Starbucks, signaling the arrival of their holiday flavours. In British Columbia, fans of the chain’s Gingerbread Latte are frothing after learning Starbucks won’t be brewing that drink here this year.

UPDATE Nov. 5: Starbucks Canada says they’ve listened, and they’ll be serving Gingerbread Lattes on the west coast after all. Christmas is saved!

Starbucks is serving up their seasonal Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulé Latte and their new Chestnut Praline Latte, but because they’re tailoring their menu to what they say are regional preferences, the Gingerbread Latte will only be in provinces from Ontario and eastward.

Western provinces, from Manitoba to B.C., will be getting the Egg Nog Latte.

People are, to be blunt, pissed.

“Some social media users have started a campaign saying #wewantboth drinks in all Canadian markets,” notes Global BC.

Meanwhile, on the eastern side of Canada, fans of the Egg Nog Latte are commiserating via retweets from the @TheEggNogLatte Twitter account.

As Metro Vancouverites point out, we do have options for Gingerbread Latte that go beyond the ‘bucks.
