There's going to be a magical moonlight snowshoe walk at Mount Seymour

Life isn’t the same for every young person living in Vancouver.

Many are at-risk and face an uphill battle when it comes to achieving academic success. But thankfully there’s a program called Take a Hike that aims to combat this.

The Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation offers this full-time education program to engage at-risk youth through a unique combination of adventure-based learning, academics, therapy, and community involvement.

This year, the foundation is hosting its 12th annual Moonlight Snowshoe event to raise funds and awareness of Take a Hike. You can participate in the magical snowshoe walk at Mount Seymour on February 15 where you’ll get to hear students’ stories and learn about the Take a Hike program along the way.

You’ll also get to enjoy a delicious hot meal, entertainment, and a silent auction too.

The event highlights issues facing youth and those who have been disengaged from high school, and also showcases an innovative approach to education. And you’ll find out why the Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation has an incredible graduation rate.

This year the Foundation’s goal is to raise $80,000 with 120 participants – you can be one of them. All you have to do is raise a minimum of $150 and all donations over $10 are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

You can enter individually by registering online now or as a team by emailing [email protected]. There’s also the option to sponsor a participant, too if you can’t make it to the event.
