Dec 19 2019, 10:36 pm

A snowfall warning is in effect for the Sea to Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler.

Environment Canada says a total accumulation of 15 cm of snow is expected.

“A Pacific frontal system approaching the south coast will spread heavy snow near Whistler this afternoon and tonight. Snowfall amounts near 15 cm are expected by Friday morning,” said the weather agency.

“Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing, and the snow will be mixed with rain at times through tonight.”

The heavy snow will turn into wet flurries mixed with rain on Friday morning.

Additional winter weather warnings are also in place in the Fraser Valley and the Coquihalla Highway.

Drivers should travel with caution, as roads could be difficult to navigate due to the snow accumulation. Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.
