Snow might hit parts of Metro Vancouver today

Dec 20 2017, 3:11 am

Environment Canada issued a special weather alert for Metro Vancouver saying snow could be in the forecast for parts of the south coast.

A mixture of rain and snow will fall over many coastal communities in B.C. and the “major urban areas” of the south coast, but those first few flakes of the season likely won’t stick to the ground – don’t expect much accumulation.

Any snow hitting Metro Vancouver will likely change to rain by the afternoon or evening.

The Fraser Valley, however, will have snow that will accumulate. The snow will start later this afternoon and continue into the evening for the eastern parts of the Fraser Valley.

Whistler can expect up to 10 centimetres of snow today.

Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week, so don’t forget your umbrellas.
