Small Business Profile: Livestock

Skateboarding through the tourist filled streets of Downtown a few years back the Urban Dweller traveled to Gastown to score some um…well it doesn’t matter why I went there. However, on my visit I stumbled upon a little gem nestled between a barbershop and open crack deals. The gem, Livestock. A specialty sneaker and urban clothing boutique.

Since then the Urban Dweller shops there for his exclusive T’s and sneakers, the only difference is the tourists aren’t as plentiful these days. It’s the only place in the city to score some “legit” Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream items. Some of the apparel and sneakers they carry in store are The Hundreds, Acapulco Gold, Stussy, Fresh Jive and of course my favourite BBC.

The in store design looks great, very sleek and clean. However, its the exclusive sneakers and clothing that are the main attraction. The guys that work there are very friendly and helpful. The owners took a gamble on their first location in an up and coming neighbourhood, however few years later and that very gamble has certainly paid off as Gastown is less seedy and once Woodward’s is complete its just going to get better. Sure there stuff may be a little expensive, however if one is to look at the clothing and its quality, you’ll soon realize its well worth the sticker price.

They currently have 2 locations in Vancouver, 239 Abbott St. and 1709 W 4th. They have also opened up a location out east. Check out the website, deadstock.ca for more information. All you sneaker freaks like the Urban Dweller won’t be disappointed.

Note: Cheapskates like Money J Skeets will be in for a sticker shock.
