SkyTrain service shut down between Nanaimo and Waterfront

Dec 19 2017, 11:04 pm

UPDATE: As of early Monday morning, the SkyTrain was back to regular service operating between all stops. The switch issue that caused Sunday night’s shut down from 7:30 p.m. to end of service between Nanaimo Station and Waterfront Station was resolved over night.

EARLIER:

Sections of SkyTrain service are currently shut down due to a switch issue.

TransLink reported this evening sections of the Expo and Millenium Line were not operating and other measures were being implemented to shuttle passengers from station to station.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, neither the Expo Line nor Millenium Line were running between Waterfront Station and Joyce Station due to a switch issue.

By 8:15 p.m., TransLink reported the Expo Line was operating again between King George Station and Joyce Station and a shuttle service was operating between Joyce Station and Nanaimo Station.

The Millenium Line also began operating again at that time between VCC-Clark Station and Joyce Station with a shuttle service between Joyce and Nanaimo.

As of 8:35 p.m. a Bus Bridge – i.e. shuttle service – was being implemented between Nanaimo Station and Waterfront Station. The bus route runs from Nanaimo to Broadway Station via Broadway and Main, Pender Street, and then to Waterfront.

TransLink has not released any information about how long the service interruptions will last for.

More to come as this develops…
