How to celebrate National Pizza Day with a pizza-beer bundle

That immediate stretch of time post-holidays can feel eerily… calm.

One moment, you’re gathering around the table for a feast, lighting sparklers for the new year — and the next, you’re somewhere in the vacant tundra that is the period between winter and spring.

If you’re anything like us, you’re looking for just about any reason to make light and momentarily escape the drab, mid-winter blues. And, with that, we can’t think of anything more worthy of a celebration than carbs — pizza, to be more specific.

Since a trip to Italy isn’t an option, for now, we’ve lined up the next best thing. Peroni Nastro Azzurro, the epitome of Italian craftsmanship and style, is teaming up with Vancouver’s own Pizzeria Farina to bring locals the ultimate National Pizza Day-through-Valentine’s Day promotion.

From February 9 (which is National Pizza Day) until February 14, Pizzeria Farina’s limited-edition pizza-beer bundles are available on Uber Eats. The bundles include your choice of heart-shaped pizza with two bottles of Peroni, as well as a two-pizza bundle with a six-pack of Peroni.

On the menu is the veggie-friendly and aesthetically pleasing Heart-Shaped Margherita, a romantic twist on a pie we know and love and comprised of tomato sauce, fior di latte, olive oil, basil.

Another equally tasty option is the Lombardia, Ti Amo, starring smoked lardo, Peroni onions, butternut squash, and besciamella, finished with grana padano on top.

You can order each of the pizzas individually and receive two bottles of Peroni as part of the ongoing promotional bundle, or double up and get the Amore Special — which includes both specialty pies and a six-pack of Peroni.

So, even though hopping a flight to the Italian Riviera remains off-limits, at the very least, you can delight in knowing you can invite some of its finest flavours into your home.

In honour of the special occasion, Pizzeria Farina, which is headed by pizza-prodigy Alessandro Vianello, has carefully crafted a limited-edition menu inspired by love, romance, and Italy’s diverse regions.

For those unfamiliar with this local institution, the concept behind the restaurant is simple: do one thing (pizza!) really well. The vibe is a combination of sleek, stylish, and authentically Northern Italian paired with a hyper-communal ethos.

It’s no wonder, then, the partnership between the local eatery and iconic beer brand came to fruition. After all, Peroni’s very own tagline, “vita con stile,” literally translates to “life with style.” Every bottle of Peroni is made with this maxim in mind and designed to exemplify the spirit, creativity, and effortless style of modern Italy. 

Launched in 1963, Peroni Nastro Azzurro is the brewery’s premium lager brand. In Italian, the name means “Blue Ribbon” — a namesake from the Blue Riband won by the Italian ocean liner SS Rex in 1933.

If you’ve ever wondered how its makers were able to strike the perfect balance of crisp and refreshing with that delicate hint of bitterness and citrus, what it boils down to is maintaining the same flair and attention to detail through three generations of master brewers. Easy, right?
