#SingItFwd returns in January 2016 for its final edition

#SingItFwd, the annual charity concert benefitting Vancouver’s Saint James Music Academy (SJMA), has become one of the city’s most anticipated and beloved shows of the year since it made its debut in 2011.

Created out of co-founders David Vertesi (Hey Ocean!) and Ambrosia Vertesi’s (VP Talent for HootSuite Media Inc.) joint dedication to connect the community through music, the event has brought some of Canada’s most talented musicians onstage together with SJMA students in order to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the institution. SJMA, located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside, provides classical lessons in strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, choir and orchestra, along with meals, music therapy, and after-school care, for inner-city children at no cost to their families.

On Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15, 2016, #SingItFwd will run for the very last time. For its final edition, the concert, dubbed #SingItFwdFinale for the occasion, will be held over a series of two nights (instead of just one) at the Vogue Theatre, with a goal of collecting $75,000 and bringing the overall amount of money raised for SJMA to $200,000. To add to the excitement, the Vertesi’s have chosen to keep the lineup a secret until the day of the concerts. Past years have featured performances by artists including K-os, Dan Mangan, Dear Rouge, Mother Mother, Hey Ocean!, and the Sheepdogs — for its finale, #SingItFwd promises something spectacular.
