Canadian police departments are warning the public to be on the look out for a high-risk sex offender who did not return to his halfway house in Vancouver on Thursday night, May 7.

The Vancouver Police Department issued a notice on Friday about the Canada-wide arrest warrant for Gerald Richard McLean, a two-time federal offender serving a long-term supervision order after completing a two-year sentence for sexual assault.

McLean was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 2000 and a teenager in 1995.

He is described as white, 46 years old, 5’7″ tall, 175 pounds, with green eyes, a goatee, and long blonde hair possibly worn in a ponytail. McLean also has a tattoo of an eagle on his left upper arm, a skull on his shoulder, a tribal band on his right upper arm and the word “prospector” on his back.

Police say he was last seen wearing a black hoodie with an emblem on the back, brown pants, black boots and a black baseball cap.

This is the third time McLean has not returned to his Vancouver halfway house. In October 2013, he was arrested after another Canada-wide warrant was issued when he violated terms of his sentence. He was found in the area of 33rd Avenue and Oak St. He was also arrested in 2010 in McBride, B.C. for the same offense.

Anyone who sees Gerald McLean, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
