Selfie Paradise at Fortune Sound Club tonight

Dec 19 2017, 11:13 pm

Selfies, whether you like it or not, are a big part of our daily lives. Everyone from the Pope to your four year old cousin knows what a selfie is and how to take one. Oxford Dictionaries even named ‘selfie’ their word of the year in 2013.

Enter Selfie Paradise, an event that encourages you to indulge your most narcissistic desires while stacking your camera roll with selfies in over ten unique scenes with rare cutouts and props. Selfie Paradise is a different take on the selfie room from the same people who run Chinatown Mall, Jamie and Liam.

I recently sat down with them in a park to preview some backgrounds and chat about everything selfie. Scroll down for our interview and roll by Fortune Sound Club on Friday, May 15 for the ultimate selfie party.

So where did you guys get this idea from? For a selfie party?

Jamie: We pretty much just wanted to put our own spin on the selfie room trend by including cool prints and rare PP’s.

Liam: I think people now a days think that selfies are almost like a faux pas, but we want to celebrate the selfie! I think it’s fun to have some zany backgrounds up and have it be a way for everyone to let their guard down. No one will be judged for taking a selfie, because that’s the point of being there.

Vanessa: And I think that everyone deserves to take a good selfie.

L: Yeah, of course!

What is your favourite pose for your personal selfies?

J: I like to do the rap squat or maybe some variations, like this *demonstrates rare face covering hand poses*

V: Very lit, haha.

L: Yeah! Haha it’s lit!

V: Okay what about your selfies?

L: I don’t know if I have a pattern in my selfies? Do I? Most of my selfies are like…

J: You like to do the eyebrow raise sometimes?

L: Yeah! Like The Rock!

Okay last question, who in this world takes the best selfies?

J: Well it’s gotta be Kim Kardashian. It’s just her sheer volume, not even quality.

L: Just her output is unmatched! Oh, but Diddy has a few funny ones too.

J: Oh yeah Diddy has like 100 selfie sticks, haha!

Anything else you guys want to say?

L: I think it’s gonna be really light and fun and everyone (who is over 19) is welcome to come to the selfie party.
