Colourful 'Seaside Stroll' crosswalk brightens Uptown White Rock

White Rock’s Uptown neighbourhood just became a little more vibrant with the completion of a new colourful mural crosswalk designed to brighten the daily journeys of pedestrians while celebrating the spirit of the seaside city.

Located on Johnston Road between Thrift Avenue and Russell Avenue, the pedestrian crosswalk, called “Seaside Stroll,” now offers residents and visitors a welcoming encounter with public art, uplifting an existing mid-block crosswalk location.

It is located adjacent to Bosa Properties’ recently completed Miramar Village mixed-use tower development.

With flowing lines and coastal hues, the mural draws inspiration from White Rock’s iconic waterfront — bringing its essence inland to the heart of the city’s commercial core.

The public artwork was created by Vancouver-based multidisciplinary artist Amy (Yun Ru) Bao, whose creative practice spans traditional art, architecture, and large-scale outdoor installations.

The completed mural crosswalk now serves as both a functional street feature and a vibrant celebration of local identity — a colourful reminder of the community’s connection to the coast.
