New direct seaplane routes launched between Metro Vancouver and Salt Spring Island

Salt Spring Island was recently named one of the best places to travel in 2025, and now Metro Vancouver travellers can visit the popular destination even easier starting this spring.
Seair Seaplanes is launching new direct routes from Downtown Vancouver and Richmond (YVR South Terminal) to Salt Spring Island beginning in April.
According to Seaair, the flight will take just 15 minutes between the mainland and the biggest and most populous of the Southern Gulf Islands.

“The entire Seair Team is thrilled to expand our service to Salt Spring Island with these new direct routes from Downtown Vancouver and Richmond,” said Chad Wetsch, CCO of Seair Seaplanes, in a release. “Seair is built on service and connecting coastal communities, so this is a natural offering for our guests.
“Seair has a long history of serving coastal communities, and we value the strong relationships we’ve built with our passengers and partners on Salt Spring Island. This route reflects our ongoing commitment to providing efficient, scenic, and seamless travel while strengthening our connections with the communities we serve.”

Commuters and leisure travellers can begin travelling between Richmond and Downtown Vancouver to Salt Spring on April 17, 2025. Seair is also offering a limited-time introductory fare as low as $77.
In addition to the new direct service, Seair will offer a check-in facility for guests to relax and enjoy a snack or beverage before their flight.

Seair Seaplanes currently flies 32 daily scheduled routes between Richmond, Downtown Vancouver, the Gulf Islands and Nanaimo on its fleet of seaplans that include Cessna Caravans, DeHavilland Turbine Beavers, and Dehavilland Beavers.
