If you’ve ever wanted to visit Vancouver’s Science World after hours, you now have a chance.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, Science World is hosting one of its 19+ After Dark events, inviting visitors to learn “the science behind sleight of hand, misdirection, and illusion.”

Science World After Dark is a monthly adults-only series with unique events.

“It’s nightlife with a nerdy twist, crafted for curious minds and fun-seekers alike,” is how Science World describes it on their website.

And in a couple of weeks, the After Dark event will be all about magic.

“Guests will wander the galleries with a drink in hand, uncover the secrets of perception in our Puzzles & Illusions gallery on the first floor, then feel the pull of physics in Eureka, where real forces create seemingly impossible effects,” reads a release from a spokesperson.

A number of notable Vancouver magicians will headline the night, including Alex Zander, two-time World Champion Shawn Farquhar, and globally renowned magician Billy Hsueh.

Further, for anyone who’s wanted to show off with a magic trick, there will be the opportunity to learn how to do so.

And if you’ve been missing soccer since the FIFA World Cup ended in July, this After Dark event will be one of the last chances to check out the FIFA Science and Technology exhibition in Science World, which has its final day on Sept. 7.

This exhibition allows visitors to learn about the technology and science behind soccer, showing things like how the sport utilizes video review technology, performance analytics, stadium operations, and broadcast production.

It also includes some artifacts special to Canadian soccer, like Christine Sinclair’s jersey that she wore during Canada’s gold medal victory at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

If you can’t make this After Dark event, Science World already has a couple more scheduled for Oct. 30 and Dec. 9.
