Vancouver's Science World is getting a FIFA World Cup makeover

Sports fans from around the globe will be coming to Vancouver for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and one of the city’s most iconic landmarks is getting a new look for the festivities.
Science World has announced that it will begin its transformation into the FIFA World Cup 2026 official match ball starting this week.
The 360-degree, 40-metre-diameter re-creation of the adidas Trionda is titled “The Beautiful Dome,” and installation of the design is expected to be complete by early June.

“Forty years after it first welcomed the world at Expo 86, the dome that now houses Science World is proud to be part of another extraordinary moment in Vancouver’s history,” said Tracy Redies, president and CEO of Science World, in a release.
“This unique installation is a bold feat of engineering and a testament to what is possible through creativity and collaboration. We are excited to welcome visitors from around the world and be part of an experience that will inspire and unite people.”
Canada’s The Look Company is overseeing the installation of The Beautiful Dome, with Global CEO Jacob Burke saying that it will create a visual experience that fans and players alike will remember for years to come.
“Capturing the excitement of FIFA World Cup 2026 on an architectural landmark like Science World’s iconic dome is no small achievement,” added Burke in a statement. “It takes an immense amount of vision, creativity and collaboration, at a scale that very few projects reach.”

The North American premiere of the official soccer-themed exhibition from the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, opens May 15, 2026 and will run through Sept. 7, 2026.
The exhibition coincides with Vancouver hosting a total of seven tournament matches at BC Place Stadium, beginning with its first group stage match on June 13, 2026 and ending with a round-of-16 knock-out match on July 7, 2026.
Excitement for the FIFA World Cup continues to build throughout Metro Vancouver, and you can take your fandom to great heights at a new celebration hosted by Capilano Suspension Bridge.
Canyon Kick-Off will transform the park into a football paradise from June 6 to July 19, and soccer fans of all ages are welcome.
