Mission public schools and University of Fraser Valley announce closures due to snow
A number of schools in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley have announced closures in wake of today’s earlier snowfall.
All public schools in Mission are undergoing early dismissal, due to the worsening road conditions.
Buses have begun pickup at the district’s elementary schools, with middle and secondary schools soon to follow.

Staff will remain at schools until all students are picked up.
The University of Fraser Valley (UFV) has also announced that as of 12:15 pm, classes and activities at all UFV campuses were cancelled. Buildings access on campus will be limited shortly after.
Due to severe weather and deteriorating road conditions, all classes and activities at all UFV campuses will be cancelled starting at 12:15 pm today, Friday, Feb 22. Buildings will be closing shortly after this time for the rest of the day with very limited access. 1/2

Other post-secondary institutions, including the University of British Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) have all announced that campuses will remain open, despite the slushy conditions.

All campuses remain open. Snow is forecasted to stop shortly–plows are working to clear the roads. If you do not have snow tires please stay safe and delay travel until later this P.M. Snow later today is expected to be minimal, and conditions should improve for transit and cars.
