Santa’s coming to town early at this epic North Vancouver event
The holiday season is upon us already, and if you have little ones (or even if you don’t) it’s an exciting time of year.
Even though now it’s hard to believe someone could access your house via chimney — or use a flying sleigh as a method of transportation — doesn’t mean it wasn’t awesome when we did.
Seeing your little one’s face light up when you tell them stories about leaving carrots out for the reindeer is a special moment in any parent’s life. Having them visit Santa is no different.
Capilano Mall is welcoming Santa early this year, on November 23, so if you’re heading out-of-town for the holidays (or simply want to beat the December crowds), this is your chance to catch Saint Nick ahead of time.

If you make it on the opening day, you and the kids will get to enjoy the “Live from the North Pole” Holiday Concert and the Gingerbread Decorating Workshop, hosted by the one and only Mrs. Claus.
It’s happening in the Grand Court from 11 am to 3 pm and the first 100 children (age 10 or under) to buy a photo package will get a free Santa lollipop from Purdys. If you’re looking to make a little someone especially excited, this is definitely the occasion. And as a bonus, free Starbucks hot chocolate is available at Guest Services for all who attend.

Can’t make it on opening day? No worries. Get a pic with Santa at any of the various times up until December 24. There are special giveaways when you buy a photo package, and this year there’s a totally revamped Santa set, including a new backdrop.
Got a furry friend that you can’t part ways with? Bring them in for a Santa photo op, too. Pets are welcome to join in on the fun from 6 pm to 8 pm on Mondays, December 9 and 16 and Tuesdays, December 10 and 17. Sounds like a pretty adorable photo op if you ask us.

Need to do some shopping for the holidays while you’re at the mall? Capilano Mall is holding extended hours starting December 7. They can even give you a hand with making your presents especially impressive with gift wrapping available at Guest Services. All proceeds go towards North Shore Community Resources.
