One of Vancouver's top taco shops is saying goodbye to its original location after 13 years

The restaurant closures keep on coming, and unfortunately, we received confirmation that a trio of restaurants will be saying goodbye due to area redevelopment. One of these restaurants, Sal y Limon, will be closing its original Kingsway location after 13 years, ahead of its relocation.
“From our humble start in 2012 with just 20 seats, to our 2014 expansion and the countless tacos, families, friendships, and margaritas since,  this place has been more than a restaurant. It’s been home,” the restaurant shared.
Thankfully, Sal y Limon confirmed that they won’t be moving far.
“This isn’t goodbye, we’re moving down the street,” added Sal y Limon. “Same team, same menu, same hours — and the same heart, just a few blocks away.”
The new location will be found at 6196 Fraser St. and is expected to open the week of July 7, with an exact opening date expected to come soon.Â
“We chose to stay nearby because this community has been everything to us. Thank you for making us part of your lives. We can’t wait to welcome you at Fraser — and yes, your go-to order will still be waiting for you,” said the restaurant.
As for its original location at 701 Kingsway, customers can still visit until its final day, July 5.

Other restaurants closing in the mall complex include Ba Le Deli, which operated at the location for 38 years and closed on June 22, and Straight Outta Brooklyn’s first Fraserhood location, which will close on June 30.
As for the future of the location, a new 25-storey mixed-use tower will be going up in its place. This new tower will feature 201 secured purpose-built rental homes, including 160 market rental units and 41 below-market rental units, alongside 6,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant use.
“We’re also working closely with the developer, Qualex-Landmark, in hopes of coming back to Kingsway once the new project is complete,” added Sal y Limon.
