Vancouver actor Ryan Reynolds is becoming a professional sports owner.

No, he’s not buying the Canucks, Whitecaps or Lions. Along with fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney, he has purchased a soccer team overseas.

The pair will take full control of the Wrexham Football Club, the third-oldest pro soccer team in the world, based in Wales, reportedly making an investment worth more than CAD $3 million.

“As Wrexham supporters, we would like to wish them the very best of luck in charge of our Football Club and look forward to what the future brings,” said the Wrexham Supporters Trust Board, which has owned the team since 2011, in a statement.

The new owners announced the news with a funny video message on social media.

“We are humbled, and we are already getting to work,” Reynolds said in the video. “Holy sh*t, this is really happening.”
