The Ro Code: The Summer Coding Playlist

Dec 19 2017, 7:09 pm

By the time we sat down for lunch, we had theorized on quantum physics and time travel, what Behaviour Driven Development looked like, and using booleans versus strings. “Alright guys, can we try not to talk about code?” the dude with the wild haircut finally lets out in frustration. We laugh, and after a moment of silence (less awkward and more brain-racking), one of us takes up an attempts to un-geekify. “So yesterday, there was a pineapple truck that crashed right by my apartment,” he told us. “There were pineapples everywhere!”

As the cohort at Lighthouse Labs enters into the world of Ruby on Rails, brains have fully evolved into full geekery. Knowing how to relax too is a big key in surviving though. The lab and the set up at Launch Academy have made room for a sweet tech ecosystem and lifestyle. The top winning conversation around the room however, is on what mad tunes you can plug in to write some kick-ass code. Here are a few of the favourites:

Clean Bandit – Rather Be

Duke Dumont – I Got U
[youtube id=”FHCYHldJi_g”]

Flume & Chet Faker – Drop The Game
[youtube id=”6vopR3ys8Kw”]

Crystal Castles – Crimewave
[youtube id=”VkRKdV0EwAY”]

Wookie – Higher
[youtube id=”IdmbdQCmmRM”]

Busta Rhymes – Thank You

‘The Ro Code’ is a VancityBuzz exclusive blog delving into the course material, instructors and all round coding happenings at Lighthouse Labs. For more information on the next cohort, check out www.lighthouselabs.ca and get lost into a vortex of possibilities.
