Rivian to open its first futuristic international space in Burnaby
American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian Automotive is getting ready to open its first international space, and it will be located in Burnaby at The Amazing Brentwood.
Rivian launched in BC late last year with its R1T and R1S all-electric vehicle models. The R1T is a pick-up truck, while the R1S is more of a typical SUV.
The new space is opening on July 28 and is the American company’s first international store, but it will also feature some ground-breaking new technology that is consumer-friendly.
Rivian was founded in 2009, and its headquarters is in Irvine, California. It currently has spaces in Venice and New York.
What makes this Rivian location different than the others is some of the technology the company is using to help customers make an informed decision.
“This space will be a first in terms of its use of augmented reality to provide customers with a look at any vehicle configuration they choose digitally.”
Rivian says an R1 will be on display at the Burnaby location, as well as demo drive availability and merchandise for the BC market.
“Just a short walk from the Millennium Line, our new space is an open invitation for exploration. You can get to know our electric adventure vehicles, plot your first road trip to Tofino, maybe even take one for a spin. We can’t wait to show you around,” reads a blurb about the Burnaby location on the Rivian website.
Rivian’s new store will occupy The Amazing Brentwood’s “The Glass House,” a space initially designed for pop-up retailers.
“The Glass House is a low-barrier, flexible leasing opportunity to heighten your brand exposure through unparalleled access and an iconic location,” reads a description on The Amazing Brentwood’s website.
While photos of the interior of the Burnaby space are not yet available, this is what some of the other locations look like.
