A woman is dead and police are now investigating after a fatal crash in Richmond.

According to police, the incident took place around 7 pm on Friday evening, when the woman – a Richmond resident in her 80s – was struck by a 2008 Acura Sedan, at the intersection of Minoru Boulevard and Murdoch Avenue.

The woman was still conscious after the incident and was taken to the hospital with what was described at the time as “minor” injuries.

However, she succumbed to her injuries a day later and passed away.

Police said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police and neither speed nor alcohol is considered a factor in this collision.

The pedestrian is believed to have been crossing in a designated crosswalk.

Now, police are asking who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage from the area, to contact Richmond RCMP‘s Road Safety Unit at 604-278-1212.
