It’s likely not a surprise, but it’s now official: The Richmond Night Market has postponed the opening of its 2020 season.

The huge outdoor market — North America’s largest — had been slated to run from May 8 to October 12, 2020, but due to COVID-19 the opening date will now be pushed indefinitely.

In a release, market organizers said they are “looking at the end of June to decide on our next steps, but this will be fluid and change as the situation develops.”

This market normally draws crowds from across the province who travel to check out the rows on rows of vibrant cuisine along with the diverse lineup of nightly performances on the 50-ft entertainment stage.

We’ll keep you posted as new details are released in the coming months.

In the meantime, relive the past magic of the market with this video.
