Book Launch Celebration: Adad Hannah – The Decameron Retold

What: Richmond Art Gallery hosts the book launch celebration of Adad Hannah’s The Decameron Retold. This publication is a behind the scenes look of Hannah’s 2019 community project and exhibition of the same name at Richmond Art Gallery. Books will be available for sale, and light refreshments and cash bar will be served.

The Romance Travel Show

Labour’s trace

What: Richmond Art Gallery’s newest exhibition is Labour’s trace by Karin Jones, an interdisciplinary artist of African-Nova Scotian heritage, and Amy Malbeuf, a Métis visual artist from Rich Lake, Alberta. Working with a wide variety of materials and objects, the artists reflect ideas tied to livelihood and histories of colonization.

Family Fun Days at the Nature Park

What: Richmond Nature Park celebrates Family Day weekend with a variety of events. Go on a special scavenger hunt through the bog, stop by the photo, and make a take-home twig picture frame.

Family Day Weekend at Britannia Shipyards

What: Britannia Shipyards presents a variety of events on Family Day weekend. Learn about Richmond’s past with the Living History Program, take part in an exhibit scavenger hunt at the Seine Net Loft, and more.

Children’s Arts Festival

What: Celebrate Family Day at the 12th annual Children’s Arts Festival. The event features a wide variety of hands-on activities, literary and musical performing arts, workshops, and more.

Community Movie Night: Lilo & Stitch

What: City Centre Community Centre hosts a free, all ages screening of the Disney animated classic, Lilo & Stitch. Light refreshments will be provided to the attendees

Galleria Photography Exhibition: Visibility by Ya-Wei Lin

What: Visibility documents Ya-Wei Lin’s daily observation of the urban landscape. The ongoing series of observational photographic images reflect on and ponder the meaning of the word “visibility” in the broadest sense. The exhibition, in the works since 2016, showcases 11 images taken in the greater Vancouver area.

MomChoir: It Takes a Village Concert

What: MomChoir, in partnership with Richmond Public Health and Vancouver Coastal Health, presents a concert where parenthood, post-partum and pre-partum is shared through music and storytelling. As well as MomChoir, directed by Katy Cadman, the evening also features a performance by award winning, all-female a cappella ensemble Sweet Scarlet.
