Reveal of the Jedi: the Final Chapter of Star Wars Burlesque

Dec 19 2017, 8:26 pm

The Original Star Wars trilogy is a staple in sci-fi history, supplying us with pop culture references over three decades after it’s original theatrical release. It has everything needed for a grand space adventure, a fresh faced and inexperienced hero, a beautiful princess, a dashing rogue and a terrifying villain. And a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the Geekenders took us to the final chapter of this epic.

Famous for their Vegas Style shows and nerdy content, the Geekenders are a collection of local nerdy burlesque artists of all shapes and sizes. The crafting of the props were fantastic as per any Geekenders Spectacular, the cleverest being the Death Star made out of a lantern and sequins. The costumes were stunning, no stormtrooper helmet was left unbedazzled.

The show itself was excellent. The song selections were perfect and delightful. Stand out performances (with as few spoilers as possible) Trixie Hobbitses Slave Leia dance and Androsia Wilde as Lando Calrissian with the Rebel Alliance pre space battle dance that left goosebumps. Whatshername as Jabba the Hutt and the Rebel Alliance versus the Imperial Fleet space battle. These were all clever, sexy and fun. All the performers were very talented, bringing to life the characters we know and love.

The Reveal of the Jedi will return to the Rio in November, on the 28th and 29th. Tickets are 20 dollars in advance and 25 dollars at the door, but it is highly recommended that you pick up your tickets in advance. Online sales sold out for Saturday and Sunday night and there are only 50 tickets available at the door. Doors open at 7pm and the show begins promptly at 8pm. Don’t miss this show, it’s the last of Star Wars burlesque! Unless… dare it be said?
