A retired warehouse manager is British Columbia’s latest Lotto 6/49 winner.

Frank Sam won a cool $1 million from the guaranteed prize draw on January 2, 2021. The BCLC says he purchased the ticket online and was at home when he discovered the news.

“I had got an email from saying I had won a prize,” Sam explains. “But it didn’t say what the amount was.”

“When I logged into my account and saw the extra million dollars in my account balance, I was just in shock. I still am, quite frankly.”

And while the win will help Sam live more comfortably, he says he’s staying composed and collected about his recent winnings.

“It gives me a good feeling of security for sure, but I haven’t given much thought, just yet, about what I want to do,” he explains. “I’ll be talking to the bank and asking for their advice on how to allocate the funds.”

In 2020, Lotto 6/49 players in BC redeemed more than $106 million in winnings.
