This year has been full of oddities and rarities, and the “anything goes” mentality has temporarily uprooted the Toronto Raptors to play home games out of Tampa Bay to start the 2020-2021 NBA season.
Due to Canada’s mandatory isolation regulations, coupled with the border closure, another bizarre disruption of 2020 has basketball fans in a frenzy on Twitter.
On Friday, RaptorsĀ president Masai Ujiri said the team worked “diligentlyĀ with public health” to secure a plan that would permit the team to play the 2020-21 season on home soil.
But, 2020 being what it is, it didn’t work out.

But if anything, a few Friday chuckles on Twitter might help to normalize the move a little bit more. Here are some funny reactions from around the Twitterverse.

If you had told me this time last year that the Raptors would be playing their next season in Tampa Bay, I would’ve thought you’d bonked your head. Just another reminder of how insane everything’s been in 2020.
