Rain or Shine Homemade Ice Cream is taking things to the next level this spring by rolling out a brand new ice cream truck.
The Kitsilano and Cambie parlour is hitting the streets in the form of a full-service mobile ice cream spot.
- Vancouver cafe now serving cake on a stick
- This local ice cream shop has a flavour just for dogs
- Dessert Pizza: Where to get this dreamy food mash-up in Vancouver
- Best ice cream in Metro Vancouver
Rain or Shine told Daily Hive via email that the truck will be doing events and concerts and it will also be around town in to-be-determined locations.
While the Rain or Shine team is just hashing out the details when it comes to permits, the ice cream makers also hope to set up shop (or truck) at beaches around Vancouver too.
People who are anxious to get a taste of the mobile parlour can keep an eye out for a schedule in the near future and they will be able to track the truck by using an app, Street Food Vancouver, and by checking the company’s Instagram and Twitter accounts.
The truck will have the ability to scoop out almost the entire Rain or Shine in-store menu, mostly likely 10 flavours with a mix of “Keepers” and seasonal ones along with sundae options. All the waffle cones will be made fresh in-truck.
The newest addition to the Rain or Shine fleet can also be booked for public or private events – all details about prices and times can be found online. Events outside of Vancouver are welcomed as well – an additional travel charge will be tacked onto the base fee – but the truck is easily able to roll into North Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Delta, New Westminster, Surrey, and Coquitlam for bookings.
Rain or Shine is still waiting to decide the first day of of regular ice cream truck operation, but they do know their first event will be the UBC Block Party on Thursday, April 6.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more details about this ice cream truck, because we don’t know about you, but grabbing a malted milk chocolate, blueberry balsamic, or honey lavender scoop on the go sounds dreamy.
