Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Vancouver and Squamish, warning of heavy rain beginning Friday and into the weekend.
An oncoming weather system will bring 50-70mm of rain to the Vancouver area and upwards of 100mm near the North Shore mountains on Friday and continuing through Saturday. Around 50 to 80mm will fall in the western Fraser Valley and Howe Sound will receive 60mm.
Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rain will begin early Friday morning and continue throughout the day with 15 to 20mm falling by afternoon. Winds will also strengthen near the water.
Another 40mm of rain is expected to fall Friday night and possibly 35-45mm more on Saturday.
Temperatures will remain cool at 9°C on Friday and 10°C on Saturday. Sunday will remain wet, but significantly less so and skies will clear for Monday.
