Tuesday’s heavy rain and hail caused a flood of social media postings as city streets were overcome by water and grass was turned the unseasonal colour of snow.
Traffic slowed across much of the city, including Highway #1 as the weather quickly deteriorated just after 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. The storm pushed through Downtown and East Vancouver into Burnaby, Coquitlam and Surrey.
On Broadway and Cambie, the roads were under several inches of water, causing pedestrians to huddle inside the Canada Line station. Down Cambie, water was flowing rapidly like a river, pooling at Broadway and causing cars to produce enormous splashes as they drove past.
