Vancouver's new pro women's hockey team reveals date for first-ever game

Could PWHL Vancouver be the best expansion franchise in this city’s history?

They’re certainly entering the season with an atypical expansion roster. Six of the league’s top 20 point leaders from last season are on the team. That prompted The Hockey News to place the expansion franchise atop the PWHL’s power rankings in the offseason.

Is the gaudy preseason hype warranted? We’re about to find out.

PWHL Vancouver has officially released its 2025-26 season schedule. The first game in franchise history will take place on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Pacific Coliseum, as PWHL Vancouver will battle the other new team to the league, PWHL Seattle.

Neither Vancouver nor Seattle has a team name yet, unlike the other six teams in the league (Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres).

The Seattle contest will be the first on the 30-game schedule for PWHL Vancouver. Vancouver will also be at home for the final game of the regular season on Sunday, April 25, when they take on the defending Walter Cup champions, the Minnesota Frost.

“It’s truly special to be starting our season at home in the Pacific Coliseum,” PWHL Vancouver forward Jenn Gardiner said in a team press release.

“As a little girl, I dreamed of this moment, and I can’t wait to live it with my teammates and the fans.”

Vancouver’s longest homestand of the season will take place following the Olympic break, kicking off with a game against Toronto on Sunday, March 1. That will be the first of five straight home games, which conclude on Saturday, March 21, against Minnesota.

Currently, fans can only purchase season tickets, with prices ranging from $351 to $1,209 for 13 of the 15 home games.

Two of the home games (Dec. 27 vs. Minnesota and April 7 vs. Boston) have home venues that have yet to be announced. The Pacific Coliseum is already booked for the Contact music festival on Dec. 27.

For those wondering if Rogers Arena could host PWHL Vancouver on Dec. 27 or April 7, the Vancouver Canucks do play at home on those nights.

According to the PWHL Vancouver website, game packs go on sale Oct. 7, followed by single-game tickets on Oct. 14.
