The Port Moody Police Department is sharing some information about a stunt involving a crane that led to three people being arrested.
According to the department, the “trio of teenage boys” were arrested on Thursday evening after allegedly climbing up a tower crane.
“On May 7, 2026, just before 11 p.m., frontline officers were called to a fully fenced construction site in the 2300 block of St Johns Street for a report of trespassers who were actively climbing a tower crane,” Port Moody Police Department said in a statement.
Following the report, officers arrived on the scene within minutes and “observed the suspects who had ascended the crane.”
The trio surrendered to police without incident, and they were later released to their guardians. Investigators are considering recommending charges.
“It should go without saying, these stunts are not only illegal but dangerous,” said Port Moody Police Constable Sam Zacharias, in a statement.
Zacharias also said that construction sites are constantly surveilled.
“Construction sites like this one are live monitored around-the-clock with video and motion sensors – police will always be called in instances of trespassers.”
Climbing a crane in B.C. can lead to financial penalties. There’s also the potential for charges of trespassing and mischief.
Earlier this week, Port Moody Police nabbed two ‘N’ drivers for street racing at speeds of over double the limit.
An officer parked in front of our station Saturday night observed 2 ‘N’ drivers street racing more than 2x the speed limit. Both drivers now face MVA charges & impounds.
It’s high-risk driving month & we continue to see examples of dangerous driving. Please slow down & take care! pic.twitter.com/ro1vS6YRai— Port Moody Police (@PortMoodyPD) May 4, 2026
