The Port Mann Bridge between Coquitlam and Surrey has been completely shut down due to a police incident.
According to Surrey RCMP, traffic is not being allowed onto the bridge in both directions. The route’s closure begins at the 160 Street interchange in Surrey, about two kilometres away from the south end of the bridge.
The nature of the incident is currently unknown.
Live webcam footage on the BC Ministry of Transportation’s website shows an empty bridge deck.
Police say they do not have an estimate for when the Highway 1 route will reopen. The closure began shortly before 9:30 pm this evening.
Few details have been provided by police at this time.
More to come…
UPDATE: The bridge is now open in both directions.
