4 all-star Vancouver chefs to open new Popina Canteen on Granville Island
Popina Canteen, a brand new concept from four renowned Vancouver chefs, is set to open this spring on Granville Island.
The all-star culinary team behind this gourmet counter-service restaurant is comprised of Angus An, Robert Belcham, Hamid Salimian, and Joël Watanabe.

“We have been playing with the idea of a collaboration project for years,” says Angus An, co-founder of Popina Canteen. “Popina Canteen is a project that distills our years of fine dining experience into something that is casual and fun.”
This eatery will be located on the northwest side of the Granville Island Public Market. Patrons can expect to see the kitchen and take away counters inside of repurposed shipping containers, along with new outdoor seating.
This unique spot is part of Granville Island 2040, an initiative that aims to transform the area into an expanded and lively Market District.
