Police in Coquitlam are investigating what they describe as a “suspicious” death.

Just after 6:15 am on Tuesday morning, police were called to the 4000 block of Quarry Road to assist the Coquitlam Fire Department at the scene of a fire in Minnekhada Regional Park. Once on scene, they “found evidence of a suspicious death,” said RCMP in a release. An adult woman was arrested at the scene and is currently being held in custody.

“The area surrounding the investigation will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time,” police said. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Coquitlam RCMP.

Police “are currently in the evidence-gathering phase,” and as such, no further information is available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation can call the IHIT Information Line at 1‐877‐551‐IHIT (4448) or contact IHIT by email. Those who wish to leave an anonymous tip can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers by phone at 1‐800‐222‐TIPS (8477), or by leaving a tip online.
