Police in Surrey are investigating two serious collisions that occurred on Tuesday morning, both within an hour of each other.

At approximately 6:20 am, Emergency Health Services notified police of a motor-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Highway 17 and Bridgeview Drive.

Police say that the pedestrian was “struck in the middle of the intersection” and has since succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is said to be cooperating with the police.

Less than an hour later, Surrey RCMP responded to another collision, this time near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 132 Street.

Police say that this incident involved a single-occupant motorcycle and a motor vehicle with four occupants. Emergency services attended the collision, assessing all individuals.

“The occupants of the vehicle were cleared at the scene and the driver of the motorcycle was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries,” said Surrey RCMP in an emailed release.

The area of Highway 17 and Bridgeview Drive is currently closed to traffic, as is King George Boulevard northbound. Investigators are currently in the area of both collisions and are expected to remain for several hours.

Police are also asking for anyone who witnessed or has information or dashcam footage of either incident to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
