A stretch of Denman Street in downtown Vancouver was closed Saturday night after the Vancouver Police Department arrested two people in a stolen vehicle.

Police presence was concentrated at Denman and Pendrell streets, where two vehicles collided.

There was one white Tesla with rear damage on Pendrell being taken away by a tow truck. Several meters away, on Denman street, there was a grey sedan with front-end damage and an N sticker on its back bumper.

Officers blocked off Denman between Nelson and Pendrell streets, with officers stationed at intersections preventing drivers from turning onto the major road through the West End.

One officer at the scene around 10:30 p.m. said the incident began as a traffic stop, but then something happened. He did not give details but said residents in the area don’t need to worry about their safety.

“Two people have been arrested in a stolen car in the West End,” Sgt. Steve Addison, VPD media relations officer, told Daily Hive by email. He added that more information would be available in the morning.
