Vancouver Police are asking a Good Samaritan who helped a sexual assault victim to come forward after an incident in East Vancouver last week.
Police received a report on Friday, December 21, that a sexual assault took place on Saturday, December 15, just after midnight on Main Street near East 17th Avenue.
A woman was walking when a man approached her and offered her assistance with a phone call, he then over-powered the woman and sexually assaulted her.
A Good Samaritan encountered the victim shortly after the assault and walked with her a significant distance to ensure she got home safely.
The suspect has been described as white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’6” tall, with a stocky build, bulging eyes, and dirty hands. He was wearing a black puffy jacket with a red fleece underneath, and oversized pants.
Investigators believe the suspect may have been startled, which caused him to run to the west.
Police would like to speak to the Good Samaritan or anyone who has information about this sexual assault. They are asked to call investigators at 604-717-0604.
