Coquitlam RCMP are looking to identify a suspect they say damaged COVID-19 signs warning people to maintain social distancing at Lafarge Lake in Town Centre Park, recently.

In a release this week, police said they first received a report of graffiti and other damage to signs on September 22, 2020.

“The damage included the word ‘hoax’ sprayed on COVID-19 signs and vandalism to several others,” police said. “The offences occurred between September 19, 2020, and September 23, 2020.”

Police said they “know of at least three occasions where the suspect has been in the park between those dates.”

RCMP said the suspect is described as a clean-shaven, Caucasian man, between 25 to 35-years-old, between 167 cm (5’6″) to 173 cm (5’8″) tall, and wearing an orange coloured jacket and ripped jeans.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and refer to file 2020-25736.

Those who wish to leave an anonymous tip can do so by contacting Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online.
