Sony and Playstation have announced a Play at Home campaign to promote social distancing by offering two huge console exclusives for free. The campaign begins Wednesday for every Playstation user across the globe.Ā

Included are the Nathan Drake Collection — which includes a single-player campaign from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception — and contemporary social struggle game Journey.

“People all over the world are doing the right thing by staying home to help contain the spread of COVIDā€“19,” reads the blog post. “We are deeply grateful to everyone practicing physical distancing and take our responsibility as a home entertainment platform seriously, so we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play At Home.”

Starting April 15 and running until May 5, players can download these two games for absolutely no charge. This applies worldwide, except for in Germany and China, where Knack 2 will be offered instead of the Uncharted series.

Gamers are often misconstrued as a collective that does not like being near others. They are, rather, adaptable to a world where online connections are the norm.

With the offer of free games, Playstation hopes to encourage people to spend some more time indoors. According to HowLongToBeat, the Nathan Drake Collection should provide gamers around 30 hours of entertainment, and up to 60 hours for those completionists out there.

As for Journey, gamers are looking at a nearly endless adventure across a sprawling landscape in which gamers interact with others. Journey has extreme replay value and is a remarkable experience.

In addition to the Play at Home campaign, Sony and Playstation announced a fund to support independent developers through this trying economic time.

The team revealed that they’ve “earmarked” a $10 million budget to help ensure the health of the small indie teams working with Sony and Playstation.

“During these days of physical distancing, fans have turned to gaming for moments of respite and enjoyment,” adds Playstation. “At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we are privileged to bring this much-needed entertainment. We know this is just one small step and we are thankful to be able to offer this support to our players, our communities, and our partners.”
