57-year-old woman transported to hospital after being hit by pickup truck

A 57-year-old female pedestrian is currently in the hospital after a collision with a motor vehicle.

The incident took place on Thursday, May 31 in the Newton area of Surrey.

Surrey RCMP were called to the scene of 72 Avenue and 138 Street at approximately 6:30 pm.

A pickup truck was travelling eastbound on 72nd Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian.

The 57-year-old was transported to hospital in critical condition and sustained life-threatening injuries.

No update on her condition has been given at this time.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police, however, alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors of the collision.

The incident still remains under investigation.
