This fall, the park-and-ride at the Phibbs Exchange bus loop will be permanently closing.

The District of North Vancouver explains that the closure is to make way for “upgrades to the exchange, as well as construction related to the Dollarton Highway and Main Street interchange.”

Construction plans include creating a multi-use pathway to connect cyclists and pedestrians from Orwell Street to Phibbs Exchange and the Second Narrows Bridge.

Phibbs Exchange is one of the largest exchanges in the region, serving 16 bus routes and approximately 16,000 passengers on a daily basis.

The parking lot, located on Oxford Street at the Highway #1 off-ramp has 40 parking spaces and frequently fields workers who commute from North Vancouver to the downtown core.
