
One person is dead after a pedestrian-involved collision in the Township of Langley in a remote area near the B.C. border.
Officers responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision at around 6:45 a.m. near 264 Street and 0 Avenue in Langley.
Langley RCMP is now investigating the incident, and the collision has led to road closures that the department expects to last for several hours.
RCMP officers, alongside British Columbia Ambulance Service personnel and Township of Langley Fire Department members, arrived on the scene and located a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
“Despite immediate life-saving measures, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” said Langley RCMP in a release.
“Road closures are in effect in the immediate area, and motorists are asked to avoid the area. Motorists can expect disruptions to last several hours,” it added.
Langley RCMP is asking witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward, especially members of the public who may have captured dashcam footage of the incident.
Google Street View suggests that the area where the collision occurred is sparsely populated and is right along the B.C.-U.S. border, near the Aldergrove border crossing.

This incident marks yet another fatality in a year that has been deadly for pedestrians in Metro Vancouver.
