Another stabbing has taken place in downtown Vancouver after an altercation in the early morning hours of Oct. 17.

According to an email to Daily Hive from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), a man in his 40s was stabbed during the altercation near Granville and Nelson at around 1:30 a.m.

VPD told Daily Hive that onlookers flagged police officers, who then took the suspect into custody.

“The victim sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound and was treated in hospital,” VPD added.

No further details about the suspect or victim, nor the relationship the two had, were shared with Daily Hive.

This is the second stabbing in Vancouver in just as many weeks, and it has been a violent few weeks in general for Vancouver. Before these stabbing incidents, one person was shot and killed in Strathcona on Sept. 30

Norman Labonte, 48, was identified as the victim of the homicide.

Then, on Oct. 10, we learned that several people were injured in what appeared to be a series of stranger attacks in Yaletown.

“Three victims were located and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” VPD said in a release following the attack.

Since then, we’ve learned that the suspect in those attacks was arrested and charged. The suspect, a 35-year-old female, was arrested in the Downtown Eastside on Oct. 13.
