A man has succumbed to his injuries after getting hit by a taxi on the Downtown Eastside at Hastings and Main Streets last Wednesday.
The 42-year-old man was one of two pedestrians who were struck by the car at 6 am on August 31. He had serious head injuries that left him in grave condition, and he was pronounced dead on September 5.
The other pedestrian, a 60-year-old man had only minor injuries and was released from hospital.
Police say speed and driver error aren’t thought to be factors, and that both men were running across Hastings Street when they were struck.
The Vancouver Police Department says they’re continuing to investigate the city’s 13th traffic related death this year. Nine of those deaths have been pedestrians.
