Overnight lane closures planned for Pattullo Bridge in coming days

If the Pattullo Bridge is part of your regular commute, you’ll want to plan ahead because partial overnight closures are scheduled in the coming days.
According to TransLink, the upcoming bridge closures are taking place so crews can perform maintenance work on the 88-year-old structure.

The closures will take place on the following dates:
- Monday, June 9, from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Closed northbound into New Westminster
- Tuesday, June 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Closed southbound into Surrey
- Wednesday, June 11, from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Closed southbound into Surrey
TransLink notes that equipment will be blocking some lanes of traffic during these dates, requiring directional closures. Drivers and transit users can expect to add 30 minutes to their commutes.
Pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders will still be able to access the Pattullo Bridge at these times.
Drivers are encouraged to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges as alternatives. Some N19 NightBus trips between New Westminster and Scott Road stations will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges.
The Government of British Columbia announced last spring that the new replacement Pattullo Bridge is now slated to open in Fall 2025. The project cost is currently $1.637 billion as of a Fall 2024 fiscal update by the province.
