Pattullo to partially close for three nights as replacement bridge opening draws near

Nov 26 2025, 7:22 pm

The Pattullo Bridge will be experiencing a closure this week and weekend for three nights as the replacement draws closer to its grand opening.

The closures will take place on Thursday, Nov. 27, Friday, Nov. 28, and Sunday, Nov. 30, all from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

According to an alert from TransLink, the bridge will be closed southbound into Surrey for those three nights due to ongoing work on the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.

The bridge will continue to be closed for southbound pedestrians and cyclists. Northbound travel into New Westminster will not be affected.

“These closures are needed to secure a new overhead directional traffic sign along King George Boulevard. The large sign will be installed over the right lane of the replacement bridge, before the Scott Road exit ramp,” TransLink states.

“Heavy equipment, including a drill rig, will be blocking traffic lanes near the south side of the existing bridge. To ensure public safety, both southbound bridge lanes will need to be closed.”

TransLink is advising folks who need to use the bridge southbound to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges. N19 NightBus riders will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New West and Scott Road stations.

These closures come as we draw closer to the opening of the Pattullo Bridge’s replacement.

In September, we learned that the new Pattullo Bridge would be opening to vehicle traffic by Christmas.

In October, a huge milestone was reached as all 80 cables and steel girders were installed on the new bridge.

Earlier this month, we got some more details, and Daily Hive Urbanized reported on how specifically the opening of the new bridge might look. The bridge is expected to open to vehicle traffic in phases, the first of which is still scheduled to happen by Christmas 2025 as a partial opening.

Still, anything can happen. The bridge was initially expected to open this fall, but that obviously didn’t come to fruition.
