Disclaimer: To ensure your safety and well-being when visiting parks, practice physical distancing between you and other visitors, stay on marked trails and abide by trail closure signs. To avoid hazards, keep a safe distance back from slopes, bluffs and river edges. And please, leave no trace. Dispose of your waste properly and respect wildlife.

As recommended by BC’s provincial health officials, if you choose to participate in events or leisure activities outside of your home, please adhere to COVID-19 health and safety measures, including proper physical distancing, frequent handwashing, and wearing a mask in public places. If you are sick or are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home.

Spending time in the great outdoors is a quintessential summer pastime in BC, especially when it involves sleeping under the stars, cooking over a campfire, and taking a dip in scenic lakes.

And starting next month, people can begin booking their little pieces of outside paradise when Parks Canada opens camping reservations in BC for the season.

Reservations open up on a rolling schedule beginning on April 6, based on the location of the campground and whether the booking is for a basic campsite, roofed accommodation, or a remote backcountry experience.

While bookings can typically be made in January for the current year’s camping season, Parks Canada delayed the opening of reservations for trips between May 2021 and March 2022. This was done to give campers more time to consider the latest COVID-19 measures, and to help reduce the need for cancellations.

Check the Government of Canada’s website to view a complete list of Parks Canada campgrounds and to learn when bookings for each site open.
