New year, new you: Parallel 49 Brewing Company kicked off 2017 with the big news that they were closing their current tasting room in order to convert it into a new restaurant space.

The popular East Van brewery isn’t adding on square footage, however they are renovating and reconfiguring the space to make room for a kitchen.

“Our new restaurant will have a completely new look and feel that will let us create the space we’ve always wanted to offer our guests,” Parallel 49 Brewing Company co-owner Anthony Frustagli elaborates in a statement to Daily Hive.

“The raw industrial aesthetic of the new space will allow us to stay true to our roots and to the neighbourhood in which we live,” adds Frustagli. As a bonus, re-doing the space will let them bring in more people, as well as add on a patio.

The food will have a “street-style” theme, and will be tailored for perfect pairings with pours of their brews.

“Head Chef Jason Harper has already begun working on our new food program that will feature seasonal flavours, local products and beer-inspired menu items,” notes Frustagli.

The renovated restaurant and tasting room is set to reopen in March.

“In early spring we will emerge again transformed like a beautiful beer-terfly,” joked Parallel 49 on Facebook.
