For all its misfortunes, this past year has marked some incredible feats on behalf of local businesses that have been constantly adapting to new circumstances.
In that spirit, the creators behind the comfort food–forward CRAFT Beer Market have struck out again — this time with a restaurant that’s truly made for our times.
The new pizza-centric eatery, Pie Eyed Pizza, is serving up classics — for delivery only.
Situated on West 1st, the new locale marks the brand’s sixth Canadian location, following in close succession with openings in Toronto, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa.
Their mission, in their own words, is to offer locals “the best damn pizza delivery you’ll ever taste.” The team even going so far as to taste test hundreds of pizzas to discern the best ones in order to curate their very own menu.
To say that the menu items are mouthwatering would be an understatement. Complete with seven handmade classic pies, including two Detroit-style ‘zas, wings, and Caesar salad, with beer and wine pairings to boot, Pie Eyed Pizza is primed to be the latest addition to your quarantine routine.
The spot is available for delivery through all of the usual channels, like SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats, and locals are also welcome to take $10 off their first order over $30 via DoorDash by signing up for the Pie Eyed Pizza newsletter.
Among the original pizza offerings, each sliced eight ways with the option to sub for a gluten-free crust, is the Hipster Marg, topped with housemade tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, kale, mozzarella, Grana Padano, and basil pesto.
Just as delectable is the Killer Bee, featuring housemade tomato sauce, pepperoni, jalapeño relish, mozzarella, Grana Padano, and hot honey for an extra kick. Taking the heat up a notch further is the Mahalo Heat, a fun take on the Hawaiian and layered with housemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto, bacon, pineapple, and jalapeños.
Those looking for all of the flavour but none of the meatiness will want to spring for the Mission Impossible, smothered with housemade béchamel sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, Impossible Meat, iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and Pie Eyed burger sauce.
Pie Eyed Pizza’s small (but coveted) selection of Detroit-style pies is worth an order all on its own. A rectangular slice of the Spicy Clifford, for instance, means biting into a medley of cheeses, including mozzarella, cheddar, Swiss, gouda, and parmesan — with a hit of chili oil.
The Rock City ‘Roni, on the other hand, boasts all the same cheesiness with the addition of pepperoni, minus the chili heat.
Needless to say, no pizza would be complete without the added flavour that only a solid assortment of dips can provide. And on this front, they do not disappoint. The new pizza joint’s dip lineup includes classics like hot honey, cheese sauce, garlic sauce, chili oil, and ranch dip.
To save on slices, patrons can get 10 bucks off their first order via DoorDash by signing up for the Pie Eyed Pizza newsletter at PieEyedPizza.ca. Stay in the loop on all the latest promotions and drool-worthy updates.
